Plans and limits

Teskooano is free to use. A free account lets you keep systems, and the paid plans add room and tools on top. Every guide on this site starts with a badge saying who it’s for:

  • Free, no account needed: anyone can use it, signed in or not.
  • Free with an account: sign in with GitHub. It costs nothing.
  • Paid plans, or a named plan such as Explorer and above: needs that plan or a higher one.

Prices, Lifetime and the launch offer are on the plans page.

What each plan includes

Systems

Handcrafted catalogue Showcase systems, more with an account + paid systems Same Same Live
Generated systems Any seed, within the body limit Same Same Same Live
The system editor Build and try; no save or download Save and download Same Same Coming; MCP today
Kinds of body you can add Main-sequence stars, everyday planets Every kind Same Same Coming
Advanced data layers No Yes Yes Yes Coming
Saved systems 5: copies, imports and seeds 250 1,000 2,500 Coming; today 100
Storage 5 MB 100 MB 1 GB 2 GB Coming
Versions kept per system 3 25 100 250 Coming; today all

On Free, the editor is a sandbox: build and try a system there, but saving it or downloading its file needs a paid plan. Your 5 free saved systems come from copying catalogue systems, importing files and saving generated seeds.

Free systems are made from the everyday kinds of body: main-sequence stars, and rocky, barren, desert, terrestrial, ocean and ice planets, gas giants, moons, asteroids and comets. The exotic kinds need a paid plan:

  • black holes, neutron stars, pulsars and magnetars;
  • Wolf-Rayet and carbon stars, giants and supergiants, white dwarfs, brown dwarfs and hot subdwarfs;
  • iron and lava worlds;
  • nebulae and bodies from fiction.

This applies everywhere a system is made: on Free the generator, the editor, imports and MCP all stick to the everyday kinds. You can still open and explore every catalogue system your plan includes, exotic bodies and all.

New catalogue systems open to paid plans first, then to every account after about 90 days. Systems from fiction are never paid, and Sol, TRAPPIST-1 and Kepler-16 are open to everyone, signed in or not.

Simulator

Projects and tab groups No No 10 100 Coming

The body limit is a hard cap on every system you make, whichever way you make it: the generator, the editor, an imported file or an AI assistant over MCP. On Free that is 15 bodies, signed in or out; editing needs an account. Catalogue systems are the one exception: they open whole on every plan.

Data and API

Feature Free Adventurer Explorer Pioneer Status
MCP server for AI assistants Read-only All tools Same Same Live; all tools today
API units a month (MCP, API and CLI) 300 3,000 10,000 30,000 Coming; not counted today
Imports from real data sources 3 a day 20 a day 75 a day 200 a day Coming; no limit today
Personal API tokens and the CLI No Yes Yes Yes Coming

Lifetime includes everything in Pioneer for good, every app update free, and 12 months of Pioneer-level API access and cloud storage. After that, the optional Cloud add-on keeps them, since they’re what costs us money to run. The Developer licence, for building on the engine itself, is shown on the plans page but not on sale yet.

Always free

  • The whole simulator: N-body physics, every kind of star and planet, the Grand Tour, photo mode and installing it as an app.
  • Elite Dangerous and EVE Online systems, when they arrive, for any signed-in account. Their makers only allow non-commercial use, so they will never be part of a paid plan.
  • Downloading any system you can open, and a copy of your data at any time.

Technical limits

These hold on every plan, today.

Systems and files

Limit Value
One system file 1 MB
System names 80 characters
System descriptions 500 characters
Saved systems per account 100, until the plan limits above go live
Lists on the site and over MCP 50 systems a page
Sign-in GitHub only

A system file is the JSON the site’s Download buttons give you. Files from older versions of Teskooano are upgraded when they’re opened.

The simulator

Limit Value
Browser A current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with WebGL 2
Gravity Summed exactly between every pair of bodies up to 2,048 bodies; an octree (Barnes-Hut) approximates it above that
Lights Up to 8 stars light each body
Planet surface cache 256 MB in the browser (64 MB on phones), so systems you’ve seen load faster
Phones Bloom off, a lower rendering resolution, fewer asteroid rocks and smaller planet surfaces

How large a system runs smoothly depends on your computer and its graphics card. Renderer Info in the Developer tools shows what yours is doing.

MCP and analysis

Limit Value
system_simulate length Up to 1,000 simulated years
system_simulate work 10 million body-steps a call; longer runs stop early and say so
system_simulate samples Up to 200 snapshots of positions

See Connect an agent for every tool.

If your plan ends

Your plan runs to the end of the month or year you paid for, then drops to Free. Nothing you saved is deleted: anything over the free limits becomes read-only until you upgrade again. See the refund policy and terms.
