Roadmap
Where Teskooano is going
What I'm building now, what comes next, and what's on the list after that. A plan gets you each feature as it lands.
The planet engine
Now
Next
Fly from orbit to the ground
The planet engine: descend through a planet's atmosphere and clouds and touch down on terrain that holds up close.
No loading screens on the way down
A planet's surface streams in while you orbit it, so the view hands over to the ground without a pause.
Terrain down to a metre
Ground that keeps its detail all the way down, built from the same planet you saw from orbit.
Soon
Skies from the ground
Every planet's atmosphere scattered for real, so sunsets, hazes and alien skies look right from the surface.
Flying near a surface
Controls made for skimming terrain, hovering and landing, not just orbiting.
Look and feel
Now
Next
A realistic image at every scale
Real exposure and glare, gas giants with flowing bands and storms, stars with granulation and corona, and rocky worlds that hold up from orbit.
Quality presets, up to Cosmic
Low to Ultra presets for graphics and generation, and Cosmic for the best-looking skies.
Soon
Systems and science
Now
Next
Smoother large systems
Physics runs beside the view instead of in its way, so big systems stay smooth.
High-accuracy physics
New integrators that keep tight orbits and close encounters accurate over long runs, and general relativity for orbits like Mercury's.
Resonant systems from real data
Catalogue systems such as TRAPPIST-1 set up from published fits, so their resonances hold.
Advanced data layers
The science behind each catalogue system, layered over the view.
Soon
The real star map
The stars around the Sun, from real catalogues, to fly between.
Galaxies
Whole galaxies as a mode beside star systems.
Physics you can compose
See which integrator and forces run, and swap and combine them yourself.
Time bookmarks, history charts and export
Jump to a date or event, chart how a body changes, and export the numbers.
Elite Dangerous and EVE Online systems
Systems from both games, free for every account, once their makers agree.
Create and share
Now
Your systems in the app
Open the catalogue, your saved systems and new seeds from inside the simulator. The installed app opens where you left off, even offline.
Save from the app
Save a system, a copy or a new version without leaving the simulator, and go back to an earlier version.
The editor
Switch from viewing a system to editing it: add, move and remove stars, planets and moons, then play the result. Try it with a free account; saving and downloading what you build comes with a paid plan.
Next
Share your systems
Make a system public, browse what others have shared and the systems I promote, and rename what you've saved.
Saved cameras and views
Keep a view you like and fly straight back to it.
Save the running simulation
Save a system mid-flight, with every body where it is now, and pick it up later.
Camera paths and recorded tours
Plan a flight through a system, record it and share it.
Projects and tab groups
Keep views, systems and cameras together as a project.
Soon
Watch shared systems on the site
A link or embed plays a system, tour or recording without the full simulator, for blogs and classrooms.
Tools, AI and the engine
Now
Next
Your own API tokens and the CLI
Script Teskooano from your terminal and your own tools.
Let an AI drive the simulator
An assistant in your browser flies the camera, loads systems and changes settings for you.
The Developer licence
The engine's source, to build your own games and tools, once its licence has been reviewed.
Soon
A node editor
Build materials, planets, effects and filters by joining nodes together.
A game on the engine
A separate game, built on the same engine as the simulator.
Accounts and apps
Now
The Founders launch
At launch: €99 for the first 42 Founders, and the Developer licence included free, for life.
Next
The desktop app
Teskooano for macOS and Windows, with your files on your own computer.
Soon
Store keys
A Steam key for the desktop app, for Lifetime owners and Founders.
This is a plan, not a promise: items can move between stages, and I don't give dates. A plan named on an item is the lowest one that includes it; Lifetime includes everything Pioneer gets. Ideas and bugs are on GitHub, and you can send me feedback from the foot of any page.
